A11yRemedyBot

A11yRemedyBot is the automated browser A11yRemedy uses to test web pages for accessibility issues. If you see it in your server logs, someone used A11yRemedy to scan pages on your site.

How to recognise it

User agent: A11yRemedyBot/1.0 (+https://a11yremedy.com/bot)

What it does

• Loads pages in a headless Chromium browser, the way a visitor’s browser would.
• Runs automated accessibility tests (axe-core) on each page.
• Reads pages to test them. It does not change your website.
• If the site owner set up scanning behind a login, it signs in with the test account they provided.
• When it looks for pages to scan, it follows the rules in your robots.txt for this user agent.

Who asked for the scan

A11yRemedy customers may only scan websites they own or are authorised to test (see section 4 of our Terms of Service). Anyone can run a free one-page scan from our website.

How to block it or ask us to stop

To stop the crawler from discovering pages on your site, add this to your robots.txt:

User-agent: A11yRemedyBot
Disallow: /

To stop all scans of your site, email support@a11yremedy.com with your domain. We will investigate, stop further scans where appropriate and delete the results (see section 5 of our Privacy Policy).
